Frequently Asked Questions

A few guideposts for finding your way through the work.

What kind of photography is featured here?

This site brings together fine art nature photography and photographs of place, made slowly and with attention to natural light, weather, and atmosphere. The work is less about documenting locations and more about noticing what lingers — textures, paths, edges, and quiet moments that might otherwise be passed by.

Where are these photographs taken?

The photographs are made across Europe, often close to where I live and move through daily life. They come from forests, waterways, village edges, and historic spaces — familiar places, seen carefully over time.

Is this site a portfolio or a blog?

It is primarily a portfolio — a place to view completed photographic work. Field Notes from the River sits alongside the galleries as a separate but related body of work — a serialized family history told through primary sources, documents, and place. Each entry follows the research where it leads. It is meant for reading slowly, in whatever order draws you in.

Are prints or image licenses available?

Prints are available for selected photographs through the art galleries. If an image you're drawn to isn't listed there, you're welcome to reach out and ask.

Do you take on client photography work?

Yes, on a limited basis. Client work is accepted selectively and arranged around personal projects, fine art work, and family life. If you’re curious, you’re welcome to get in touch and ask.

How often is new work added to the site?

New work appears when it’s ready. There’s no set schedule — photographs and writing are added as they come together, at a pace that allows the work to remain thoughtful and grounded.
